Prachuap Khiri KhanOperating day:
This hill, 14 kilometers from Hua Hin town
Category : Mountain (Doi)
Attraction Details :
Khao Takiap is located in Nong Kae Subdistrict, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan, about six kilometres south of Hua Hin Town. Geographically, this area consists of two limestone mountains set right next to each other with beautiful rocks projecting into the sea; this place is, therefore, called Khao Takiap, literally meaning the chopstick mountains.
On both north and south sides of Khao Takiap, there are approximately 1.5 kilometre-long beaches called “Khao Takiap Beach”. The beach on the north side is a continuous beach which stretches all the way from Hua Hin Beach to Khao Takiap. With its powdery white sand and shallow waters, it is the right place to go swimming. At the foot of the northern mountain, a huge Buddha image in a posture of stopping the ocean from rising stands facing the sea. As a wide beach lying right next to Suan Son Pradipat Beach, the beach on the south side is relatively peaceful and still retains much of its natural beauty. Hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops are available to visitors along both beaches.
On the hilltop stands Wat Khao Takiap, a place of worship where the Sacred Relic of the tooth of Buddha is hosted. In addition, Guan Yin Shrine where the statue of Guan Yin can be found is situated to the south of the temple. Wat Khao Takiap has lots of tree shades and a nice atmosphere. Also, it is one of the overlooks where you can get fascinating views of Hua Hin Bay, Hua Hin Town, Hua Hin Beach and the curved beach of Khao Takiap. Additionally, lodgings and restaurants can be found near the temple.
There are two possible ways to get to Khao Takiap. First of all, drive along Phetkasem Road as far as the 235th milestone and there will be a road branching from the main route. Drive 500 metres along that road and you will see Khao Takiap Village before you reach an uphill road. Alternatively, you can use public transport at Hua Hin Market which runs directly between Hua Hin, Khao Krailat and Khao Takiap.
